Vanilla pod, F234
Allergen f234 corresponds to vanilla (Vanilla planifolia) and is used to identify sensitization to this food component. The test is based on measuring specific IgE antibodies in blood serum and allows diagnosis of immediate-type allergic reactions. It is used both for targeted diagnostics and as part of extended allergy panels.
Indications
- Suspected allergy to vanilla or products containing vanilla
- Skin reactions after consumption (rash, itching, urticaria)
- Swelling of lips, tongue, or throat after ingestion
- Gastrointestinal symptoms
- Allergic reactions of unclear origin
- Extended allergy diagnostics
Procedure
Venous blood sampling is performed to determine the level of specific IgE to allergen f234 (vanilla). The analysis is carried out in a laboratory, and results are reported in quantitative or semi-quantitative form depending on the method used.
