Comprehensive histopathological examination of paraffin block/consultation (1-2 blocks)
Extended histopathological examination of a paraffin block is an in-depth analysis of previously prepared tissue embedded in paraffin, aimed to confirm a diagnosis. During the consultation, a pathologist re-evaluates morphological changes and may apply additional staining techniques for more precise diagnosis.
Indications
- Need to confirm or clarify a previous diagnosis
- Suspicion of oncological disease
- Discrepancies in previous results
- Obtaining a second opinion
- Review of previously performed histological examination
Procedure/Duration
- Paraffin blocks containing biological material are submitted to the laboratory for re-evaluation
- Histological slides are reviewed, and additional staining may be performed if needed
- Examination is conducted by a pathologist with a detailed morphological report
- Turnaround time is typically 3–7 working days
Contraindications
- Absence or insufficient quality of biological material
- Damage or improper storage of paraffin blocks
Rehabilitation/Restrictions
- Not required, as the procedure does not involve patient intervention
- No restrictions
Advantages
- Increased diagnostic accuracy
- Opportunity to obtain a second expert opinion
- Clarification of the pathological process
- Support in selecting optimal treatment
Preparation:
- Submission of paraffin blocks and, if available, histological slides
- Providing medical documentation (reports, previous results)
- No special patient preparation required
