Histopathological examination of paraffin block/consultation (3-5 blocks)
Histopathological examination of paraffin blocks is a microscopic analysis of previously processed tissue samples embedded in paraffin. It allows confirmation or уточнение of the diagnosis, as well as assessment of the nature and severity of the pathological process. The consultation includes a review of existing slides by a pathologist.
Indications
- Re-evaluation of the diagnosis
- Uncertain or conflicting previous results

Procedure/duration
- Paraffin blocks and slides are submitted to the laboratory
- Re-staining (if necessary) and microscopic analysis are performed
- The physician prepares a report
- Turnaround time is usually from a few days up to 7–10 working days
Contraindications
- Absence or damage of the material
- Insufficient tissue volume for analysis

- Not required, as the procedure is non-invasive
- The patient can continue normal daily activities
