Oncology is the branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of malignant tumors in patients of all ages.

An oncology specialist is a physician who can:

Perform examinations and treatments:

• Diagnose tumors using laboratory tests, biopsies, and imaging (CT, MRI, ultrasound, X-ray)
• Determine the stage of the disease
• Prescribe therapy: surgical, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, targeted therapy
• Monitor side effects of treatment and patient condition

Interpret results:
The physician evaluates tests, imaging studies, and biopsies, identifies the type and stage of the tumor, and predicts disease progression.

Advise patients and other physicians:
The oncologist provides recommendations for treatment, prevention, follow-up, and rehabilitation.
