We remind you that independent interpretation of the results is unacceptable, the information provided below is for reference purposes only.

Digital X-ray of the cervical spine is a modern method for visualizing the bony structures of the neck using low-dose X-ray radiation. The examination is performed in two projections, providing a complete view of the vertebrae and allowing detection of possible pathologies such as dislocations, injuries, degenerative changes, or congenital anomalies.

Digital technology ensures high image accuracy, allows further processing and electronic storage, and reduces radiation exposure compared to traditional methods.

Indications

  • Neck pain and limited mobility;
  • Suspected cervical spine trauma;
  • Degenerative changes in vertebrae and intervertebral discs;
  • Scoliosis, kyphosis, lordosis of the cervical region;
  • Preoperative assessment for surgical or orthopedic procedures;
  • Monitoring disease or injury progression;
  • Oncological processes, metastases in the spine;
  • Suspected inflammatory or infectious processes.

Procedure/Duration

  • The patient is positioned standing or sitting;
  • Two projections of the cervical spine are taken — frontal and lateral;
  • The procedure takes 5–10 minutes;
  • Images are stored digitally for further analysis and archiving;
  • The examination is painless and does not require hospitalization.

Contraindications

  • Pregnancy (especially the first trimester) unless urgent;
  • Uncontrolled psychiatric disorders preventing patient cooperation;
  • Severe patient conditions that prevent proper positioning for X-ray.

Rehabilitation/Restrictions

  • No restrictions after the procedure;
  • Patients can immediately return to normal activities;
  • Minimal radiation exposure should be considered in case of frequent examinations.

Advantages

  • High-precision visualization of neck bones;
  • Quick result acquisition;
  • Low radiation dose thanks to digital technology;
  • Ability to store and transmit images electronically;
  • Painless and non-invasive procedure.

IMPORTANT!

It is crucial to remember that the information provided in this section is not intended for self-diagnosis or self-treatment. If you experience pain or a flare-up of symptoms, it is essential to consult a qualified medical professional for proper diagnostic tests and treatment. Only a qualified specialist can accurately diagnose and determine the appropriate course of action. To ensure the most accurate and consistent evaluation of test results, it is recommended to perform them at the same laboratory. Different laboratories may employ varying methods and units of measurement for similar tests, which could lead to discrepancies in results.

Preparation:

  • No special preparation required;
  • Remove jewelry, glasses, collars, or clothing with metallic elements on the neck;
  • Patient is instructed to maintain stillness during the X-ray;
  • If necessary, the physician may apply additional protection to minimize radiation exposure (lead apron).
