Digital bilateral hand X-ray (2 views)
Digital hand radiography is a modern, non-invasive imaging method that provides high-precision images of the bones, joints, and partially soft tissues of the hand.
The examination is performed in standard projections (usually two), providing detailed visualization of anatomical structures and allowing the detection of traumatic injuries, inflammatory and degenerative changes, as well as congenital or acquired abnormalities.
The method is widely used to diagnose fractures, cracks, dislocations, arthritis, arthrosis, and other conditions, as well as to monitor treatment progress. Digital technology ensures high-quality images with minimal radiation exposure and allows electronic storage of results.
Indications
- Hand injuries (suspected fractures, cracks, dislocations);
- Pain, swelling, limited mobility;
- Suspected inflammatory joint diseases (arthritis);
- Degenerative changes (arthrosis);
- Monitoring healing after trauma or surgery;
- Suspected congenital anomalies or tumor processes.
Procedure / Duration
- The examination is performed sitting or standing;
- The hand is placed on the X-ray table or a special support;
- Images are taken in 2 projections for more accurate assessment;
- The procedure is painless and lasts 5–10 minutes;
- Results (images and report) are usually available on the same day.
Contraindications
- No absolute contraindications;
- Relative contraindication — pregnancy (especially the first trimester), examination performed only if strictly indicated.
Rehabilitation / Restrictions
- No rehabilitation is required;
- After the procedure, the patient can immediately return to normal activities;
- No restrictions.
Advantages
- Fast and accessible diagnosis;
- High accuracy in detecting bone injuries;
- Minimal radiation exposure;
- Non-invasive and painless;
- Ability to store and share images in digital format.
Preparation:
- No special preparation required;
- It is recommended to remove jewelry and metallic objects from the hand;
- Bring previous X-rays if available for comparison.
