Vaginal thread lifting

Vaginal thread lifting (vaginal suspension with resorbable threads) is a minimally invasive gynecological procedure aimed at strengthening and supporting the tissues of the perineal region and the distal vaginal segment.
During the procedure, special resorbable threads are used to provide mechanical support to the tissues, reduce tissue laxity, and promote tissue remodeling. This helps improve tissue tone, elasticity, and anatomical support.
The procedure is used to correct functional and aesthetic changes, most commonly occurring after vaginal childbirth or due to age-related changes. In selected cases, it can serve as a minimally invasive alternative to surgical treatment.
Indications
- Enlargement of the vaginal opening
- Decreased tissue tone and elasticity
- Postpartum changes after vaginal delivery
- Aesthetic correction of the perineal area
- Sensation of a “wide vagina”
- Discomfort associated with reduced tissue support
- Conditions following episiotomy or healed perineal scars
Procedure / Duration
- Performed under aseptic conditions, on an outpatient basis or as a day-case procedure
- Usually performed under local anesthesia; sedation may be used if needed
- After evaluation and marking, the physician inserts resorbable threads into the perineal tissues and/or distal vaginal segment
- The threads are positioned to support the tissues and reduce laxity
- The number of threads is determined individually based on anatomical characteristics
- The procedure typically lasts 30–60 minutes
Contraindications
- Acute inflammatory conditions in the vaginal or perineal area
- Active genital infections
- Vaginal bleeding or menstruation at the time of the procedure
- Uncorrected coagulation disorders
- Pregnancy and postpartum period
- Suspected or confirmed genital malignancy

- Avoid intense physical activity in the first days
- Avoid prolonged sitting for 2–3 days
- Maintain proper intimate hygiene
- Avoid the use of intravaginal tampons for approximately 2 weeks
