Preparation:
In general, it is not necessary for the child to be fasted, as the procedure is performed without general anesthesia. If the doctor anticipates the possibility of light sedation (rarely necessary), you will be advised that the little one does not eat or drink for 6–8 hours beforehand. Dress the child in comfortable clothes with wide sleeves that allow easy access to the affected arm. Explain to the child, in a reassuring way, that the doctor will help him straighten his hand and that he should not be afraid. During the maneuver, the child may cry for a few seconds due to discomfort, but the pain disappears almost immediately after repositioning.
