Ureaplasma parvum / Ureaplasma urealyticum genotyping (swab/F)
We remind you that independent interpretation of the results is unacceptable, the information provided below is for reference purposes only.
Genotyping of Ureaplasma parvum and Ureaplasma urealyticum is a laboratory test used to identify the specific type of ureaplasma in urogenital samples. The analysis determines the exact species of the organism, which may be part of the normal opportunistic flora or may cause inflammation when the microbial balance is disrupted.
Indications
- Unusual vaginal discharge
- Itching, burning sensation, discomfort
- Chronic urogenital inflammatory conditions
- Vaginal microbiota imbalance
- Infertility or difficulty conceiving
- Recurrent pregnancy loss
- Pregnancy planning
- Routine screening
Procedure
- Collection of a vaginal and/or cervical swab
- Performed by a gynecologist
- Takes a few minutes
- Minimal discomfort
Method of testing
The test is performed using PCR (polymerase chain reaction), which identifies the genotypes of Ureaplasma parvum and Ureaplasma urealyticum. This highly sensitive method allows accurate differentiation between species.

IMPORTANT!
It is essential to remember that the information provided in this section is not intended for self-diagnosis or self-treatment. If you experience any symptoms or a flare-up of a condition, it is crucial to seek medical attention and consult a qualified healthcare professional for proper diagnosis and treatment. Only a licensed medical practitioner can accurately diagnose and recommend appropriate treatment. To ensure the most accurate and consistent evaluation of test results, it is recommended to have them performed at the same laboratory. This is because different laboratories may use varying methods and units of measurement for conducting similar tests.
Preparation:
- Avoid sexual intercourse for 48 hours before the test
- Do not use vaginal products for 48 hours before
- Avoid vaginal douching
- Do not urinate 2–3 hours prior to sampling
- Do not perform the test during menstruation (recommended 2–3 days after it ends)
