Transvaginal ultrasound performed up to 10 weeks of pregnancy allows early visualization of the embryo and gestational sac, assessment of the anatomical features of the uterus and adnexa, and evaluation of the pelvic organs. The procedure provides highly informative results at early stages of pregnancy, allows determination of the estimated due date (EDD), and, when possible, assessment of the fetal heartbeat. The examination is safe for both the mother and the unborn child.

Indications

  • Early confirmation of pregnancy
  • Determination of gestational age and EDD
  • Monitoring embryonic development and gestational sac structure
  • Suspected ectopic pregnancy
  • History of complicated pregnancies or miscarriages
  • Suspected pelvic organ pathologies

Procedure and Duration

  • Performed in a specialized ultrasound examination room
  • Duration: 10–15 minutes
  • Possibility to assess embryonic heartbeat
  • Results are provided immediately after the examination

Contraindications

  • Acute inflammatory processes of pelvic organs
  • Recent pelvic surgeries (with caution)

Rehabilitation and Restrictions

  • No restrictions after the procedure
  • Patient may resume normal daily activities
